Woman, 80, in court on attempted murder charge

A 80-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a man in his 80s was hurt at a property on the Isle of Wight.
The man suffered injuries that were not life-threatening when he was assaulted at a property in Manor Crescent, Newport, early on Wednesday, police said.
Linda Smith, of Manor Crescent, appeared at Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court in Newport on Thursday.
She was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Newport Crown Court on 7 February.
