A country park may have to close some attractions until the end of the year after being hit by flooding.

Loggerheads Country Park near Mold, Denbighshire, was hit by water rising from the nearby River Alyn.

Rachel Jones of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area National Landscape, which is based at the park, said she arrived at work to find the site flooded.

"The river had risen above the bank and flooded over our tea gardens and down into the buildings which are home to our gallery, volunteer room and the mill," she said.

"It was probably at least three-and-a-half foot in depth inside the buildings, but it's hard to tell," she added.

Ms Jones, a team leader and senior ranger, said it was lucky that no artwork was on display in the gallery at the time.

"The main issue is the length of time it takes to do repairs and let the building dry out," she added.

"It's probably going to be another couple of months before those buildings can reopen."

The park is in the process of having flood repair work carried out, which the park team hopes can minimise the damage caused by flooding.

It is hoped this work can be finished by the end of the month.
