A man has been arrested following a suspected kidnapping in Worcester, police have said.

West Mercia Police said officers were called to Hazel Close after reports a man "appeared to have been forced into a white van".

Officers quickly located the van at a petrol station nearby on Tolladine Road and located a 25-year-old man, who was uninjured and believed to be the victim.

A 45-year-old man from Birmingham was located near the petrol station and arrested on suspicion of kidnapping. He remains in police custody.

A force spokesperson said officers were working to locate a number of other suspects.

They added an investigation had been launched and the force was appealing for anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

Insp Ed Shotton, of the force, said: "We understand an incident like this will cause concern to the public.

"We currently have one man in custody and officers are working hard to located anyone else who may have been involved.

"Due to the nature of the incident there is likely to be a large police presence in Hazel Close and Tolladine Road while inquiries and searches of the area take place."
