The Fitzwilliam Care Centre in Mablethorpe has been told it requires improvement by a health watchdog

A care home has been told to develop an action plan after serious concerns were raised by inspectors.

The Fitzwilliam Care Centre, on Centenary Close, Mablethorpe, provides care for up to 62 adults living with dementia, mental health conditions and physical disabilities.

It has been told it requires improvement following inspections by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in May.

Mablethorpe Care Limited and Bluebrick Healthcare, which own and operate the centre, offered no comment when approached about the findings.

The CQC said it visited the home three times in May after it was made aware of risks around medicines, quality of care, staffing, risk management, governance and safeguarding.

It also said the provider was "in breach of the legal regulations" around staff and care and that residents "were not always protected and kept safe".

During the visits, inspectors highlighted concerns around:

  • Changes in management, which had resulted in instability.

  • People were not always protected and kept safe.

  • Risks were not always identified and staff did not understand how to safely support people to reduce the risk of harm.

  • The building was not designed or decorated in "ways that supported people with dementia".

  • There was not enough staff available at busy times, which resulted in delays.

The report concluded: "We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment."
