A major motorway was closed in both directions due to a "serious collision", National Highways said.
The collision at about 17:30 BST on the eastbound M4 between J14 for Hungerford and J13 for Chieveley/Newbury closed both carriageways.
The company said at just after 19:00 that the westbound carriageway had reopened.
South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) said it had sent three ambulances to the scene, and two patients had been taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
The ambulance service confirmed it had left the scene just after 19:30.
Thames Valley Air Ambulance and Thames Valley Police also attended.
National Highways said there were delays as a result of the incident. A diversion is in place for the eastbound closure.
