The changes will effect waste, recycling and garden waste collections over the festive period

  • Published

As in previous years, collection times for waste and recycling in Wiltshire are facing a shake-up over the festive period.

Wiltshire Council has said that there will be no collections after Christmas Eve until 29 December.

It is reminding residents to check their waste collection calendars ahead of the schedule changes to help avoid missed collections and ensure waste is presented on the correct day.

Waste, recycling and garden waste services will all be affected.

What impact will the changes have?

The impact will be different depending on your existing collections dates and where you live in the county.

For example, those living in the BA15 1LW postcode in Bradford on Avon, who following the normal timetable would have expected a household waste collection on 26 December, will have to wait until 30 December for their next collection.

Whereas those in the SP2 7HT postcode in Salisbury will not have a collection after 19 December until 6 January.

In addition, all council-run recycling centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Recycling centres usually open on a Wednesday will be closed from 1300 GMT on Christmas Eve.

All other days will operate under normal opening hours on their specified opening days.

Garden waste collections will also be affected, ceasing for two weeks over Christmas from 22 December to 2 January.

Residents wishing to recycle their Christmas tree have been advised to leave them next to their garden waste bin on their first collection in January.

For those living in Swindon, the borough council say they will release their updated collection dates for the festive season next week.
