A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a person died in an accommodation block for students and professionals.

Benjamin Katabana, 27, of Somerleyton Street, Norwich, appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court earlier following the fatal stabbing.

On Saturday a man in his 30s was found with a stab wound at Somerleyton House, on Somerleyton Street, Norwich, and later died.

Mr Katabana, who Norfolk Police said was a Congolese national, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to reports of a man with a stab wound at about 05:20 GMT on Saturday.

A post-mortem examination indicated the cause of death was a stab wound to the chest, the court heard.
