Five arrested and two in hospital after disturbance

Five people were arrested after two men were injured in a disturbance.

Police were called at about 02:20 GMT to Front Street, Consett, County Durham.

One man in his 30s suffered a stab wound to his chest and was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary with what is not believed to be a life-threatening injury.

A second man, also in his 30s, received hospital treatment for a facial injury.

Three men and two women were arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody, Durham Constabulary said.
