Fire breaks out in fields close to Guildford

Some 10 fire crews are attempting to put out a large blaze in fields near a Surrey town.

Surrey Fire & Rescue Service was called at 16:20 BST on Monday to the blaze in the Sandy Lane area of Guildford.

A spokesperson said the fire broke out in fields adjacent to Piccards Farm House.

No properties were damaged in the blaze, the service confirmed.

Residents in the area have been advised to keep windows and doors closed because of smoke.
