BBC's Shakespeare and Hathaway in Stratford return

The comedy drama returns on 24 September on BBC and iPlayer

The makers of the BBC comedy drama Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators say they are thrilled to be showcasing Stratford-upon-Avon on TV when series five airs.

Creative Director at BBC Studios Deborah Sathe said the series showcased the beauty of the town.

"Shakespeare and Hathaway has a hyper focus on Stratford-upon-Avon and all the beautiful locations around it, but the rest of our shows take us across the West Midlands, both urban and rural," she said.

The BBC said the show was part of its commitment to investment in the West Midlands, with drama commissions in the region also including Father Brown series 12 and 13.

"The West Midlands gives us everything we could need for all sorts of dramas," Ms Sathe added.

Series five returns on 24 September on U&alibi and will air on the BBC at a later date. Jo Joyner, Mark Benton and Patrick Walshe McBride return to their roles as Luella Shakespeare, Frank Hathaway and Sebastian Brudenell.

Jo Joyner said she was excited to be stepping back into Luella's bright and fluffy shoes.

"[The show is] quintessentially British, we drive in our Mini, we've got swans, cows and Tudor buildings.
