Inquest reveals cliff fall couple's cause of death

The man and woman were found at the bottom of cliffs, close to Whitby Abbey

An elderly couple who died after falling from cliffs below Whitby Abbey suffered "multi-trauma", according to a coroner.
David Jeffcock, 80, and his wife Susan Jeffcock, 74, were found at the base of East Cliff in Whitby on 30 July, an inquest at Northallerton Coroner's Court was told.
Opening and adjourning the inquests into their deaths on Monday, senior North Yorkshire coroner Jon Heath gave no further details about the case.
No family members were in court as Mr Heath adjourned proceedings until a date yet to be fixed.
In July, North Yorkshire Police described how emergency services teams were alerted at about 19:15 BST after a member of the public had spotted a man and a woman on the rocks.
With the tide coming in fast, the coastguard arranged for them to be recovered by helicopter.
