Essex Police has appealed for witnesses to the crash

A pedestrian remains in a critical condition in hospital a week after he was struck by a van.

The crash happened on Hatfield Road in Witham at about 03:15 BST on 20 August, Essex Police said.

The van was travelling away from Witham, towards Hatfield Peverel, when the man, in his 20s, was hit.

The driver stopped at the scene and was assisting with inquiries, police said. Witnesses have been urged to get in touch.
