One seriously hurt in M1 lorries crash

One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision on the M1 involving five lorries, police said.

The emergency services are still at the scene of the crash on the southbound stretch between junctions 13 (for the A421) and 12 (Flitwick).

Bedfordshire Police advised motorists to seek alternative routes after the closure of the southbound carriageway.

One lane has reopened but there are delays of up to an hour in the area, according to National Highways.
