Norwich City fans have told of their optimism for the future as the Canaries prepare for life under new leadership.

It followed the Carrow Road side announcing that Delia Smith and husband Michael Wynn-Jones would step down as directors next year.

The US investors, Norfolk FB Holdings, are set to subsequently increase their stake in the club to about 85%.

"Delia will be remembered for one thing only... For drinking copious amounts of red wine and singing 'let's be havin' you'," one supporter told the BBC.

The 48-year-old fan, who only gave his name as Gary, continued: "She's done very well for the club and now it's time to hand the baton on.

Paul Wiley says Carrow Road has become "stagnant" in recent times

Paul Wiley, from Norwich, praised the impact made by Smith and Wynn-Jones, both 83.

The pair, who first joined the club's board in 1996, have been told they will become honorary life presidents at Carrow Road.

"But hopefully some new blood coming in should change things and move us forward a little bit because I think, perhaps, it's got a little bit stagnant," Mr Wiley added.

Eric James, 70, said the former majority shareholders have done a "great job" but it was time for a change.

"I think they've had some horrible abuse considering they've done incredibly well," he said.

Simon Badderly says the outgoing directors will be remembered for the Premier League promotions achieved under their stewardship

Simon Badderly, 44, added: "They helped rebuild the club after [Robert] Chase left.

"[They will be remembered for] the promotions they brought to the club, but I'm afraid their time is now done."

'A good fit'

Mark Attanasio, who leads Norfolk FB Holdings, first joined the Canaries' board in September 2022.

He is the principal owner of the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball in the US.

The investment deal is subject to board and shareholder approval and, if agreed, will go through on 1 March 2025.

"Hopefully he's positive," supporter Ant said.

"He knows about sport, he knows about stadiums, he knows about sporting development so it could be a good fit."
