Sister's skydive to remember murdered brother

"He'd want us to enjoy ourselves and throw ourselves out of the plane," said Holly Bryan as she completed a skydive in memory of her brother.

Nick Bryan died after a "brutal attack" at a flat in Weston-Super-Mare in 2021.

Mr Bryan, originally from Leicester, was described as an "adrenaline junkie" by his sister, who decided to take on the challenge to mark what would have been his 50th birthday on Tuesday.

She said: "Unfortunately, his life was taken away from him, but we can all live our lives in his memory."

Mr Bryan travelled around the world in the travel and insurance sector, including a role working on cruises.

His hobbies included bungee jumping and white water rafting, his family said.

Three other people - two friends and his partner - joined Holly on the skydive at Langar Airfield in Nottinghamshire.

Holly said the skydive marked a moment of positivity for her family after a traumatic few years following Mr Bryan's death.

"I suppose [my brother's] not here to celebrate his birthday, and there's a massive hole now that he's not here," the 47-year-old, from Whitwick in Leicestershire, added.

"So it's important for people to remember him and to kind of continue his memory."

Mr Bryan's killer, Adam Bowers, was jailed for life for his murder in 2024.

Bowers attacked Mr Bryan in November 2021 during an argument after the pair met at a flat in Rydal Road, Weston-Super-Mare.

Emergency services were called to the flat, where Mr Bryan was found on the floor with serious injuries and taken to hospital.

He died two days later.

Bowers pleaded guilty to murder at Bristol Crown Court and was jailed for life with a minimum term of 19 years in May last year.
