Library to relocate for refurbishment works
- Published
A library is set to have its services relocated while refurbishment works take place.
The project at Henley Library in Oxfordshire will run from the 6 January for roughly 12 weeks, Henley Town Council said.
In the meantime, services will be offered from the Old Fire Station Gallery in the town centre but will only offer a limited but essential range of services.
The council said there would be moveable shelving enabling the space to be used for multiple purposes, as well as a bespoke children's area once the work was completed.
The refurbishment will include significant improvements to the library's layout and facilities, ensuring a more user-friendly experience.
It will include a new layout and contemporary furniture, dedicated workstations with charging points, offering a comfortable environment for customers to work using their own devices, alongside public computers and a wide selection of new books.
In addition, the project will focus on improving the building's carbon footprint with sustainable upgrades such as double-glazed windows and a new heating system featuring a heat pump.
The refurbishment project is fully funded through a combination of Central Government Decarbonisation Funds and developer funding provided by South Oxfordshire District Council.
Henley Town Council said it is committed to improving local facilities for the benefit of the community, and this "exciting project will create a modern, sustainable, and accessible library space for generations to come".
