High winds of Storm Bert blasted the campers' tent

A mountain rescue team came to the aid of two people who went camping in the Peak District during Storm Bert.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team said the pair had set up a base on Kinder Scout, but the force of the winds caused their tent to start letting water in.

They raised the alarm at about 05:00 GMT on Sunday.

The volunteer rescue team said it found both campers "mildly hypothermic".

Rescuers walked the campers back to Edale while their tent was dismantled.

Both warmed up in the rescue team’s control vehicle before making their own way home.

A spokesman, who praised the two for seeking help, said: "We hope the campers enjoyed a nice warm shower and a hearty breakfast when they got home.

"We all learn lessons from our experiences, especially in the great outdoors.

"Sometimes, we find ourselves in challenging situations, but these experiences build knowledge and resilience for future adventures."
