Commuters are being warned of potential disruption due to plans to redevelop the outside of a railway station.

Milestone Infrastructure has been contracted to deliver the Salisbury Station Forecourt scheme, the second project from a £9m investment in the city centre from the government’s Future High Streets Fund.

Representatives from the company will join Wiltshire Council at a public event where they will be on hand to take questions on 16 April.

The plans and detail for how they will be delivered will be on display in a space off the booking hall at Salisbury Railway Station between 14:00 and 19:00 BST.

Changes include, enhancing the railway station forecourt area with landscaping and lighting, and providing more sustainable travel options, like a bus interchange.

Councillor Tamara Reay, Wiltshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and Assets, said the council wants to create "well connected communities and the redesign of the forecourt area will make it more attractive and accessible for visitors and residents".

She said the council was aware the work would cause disruption and therefore was encouraging people to come along to the event and ask questions.

Milestone Infrastructure’s Regional Director, Lewis Cowley, said: “We have been working with Wiltshire Council, Network Rail and South Western Railway for a number of months to develop the most efficient delivery solution.

"Our team will be happy to present the construction phasing plans at this event and be on hand to answer other questions related to the station forecourt construction works.”
