Two dogs, one of which was described to police as an XL bully, have attacked and seriously injured another dog.
Staffordshire Police said it happened at about 16:35 BST on Tuesday, on Causeley Road in the Bentilee area of Stoke-on-Trent.
The two dogs were alone at the time of the attack, police said, and the other was described as a pocket bully.
The force has appealed for witnesses, or anybody with information that could help, to come forward.
The 10-month-old springer spaniel was taken to a vet and was recovering at home, police added.
