A commemorative coin featuring an Isle of Man TT racer passing the Creg-ny-Baa "encapsulates the essence of the event", an MHK has said.

The £2 piece released to coincide with the 2024 event has been released with the vantage point's name inscribed in the top corner.

The Creg-ny-Baa is one of the most popular place for spectating on the 37.7-mile (60km) Mountain Course.

Sarah Maltby MHK, who has responsibility for the TT and Motorsport, said it was a "testament to the enduring spirit of the races" in a form that is "always close to hand".

Ms Maltby added that "commemorative coins were "keepsakes that connect us to moments, places and memories of significance".

"For fans who cherish the iconic event this coin is a tangible embodiment of their passion," she added.

Chairman of the Treasury's currency committee Bill Henderson MLC said as well as celebrating the races themselves, the coin "showcases an iconic course location".

The Isle of Man TT races are scheduled to run until 8 June.
