Search for missing swimmer stood down

A helicopter and boats searched the coastline off Skegness overnight

The search for a missing swimmer has been stood down following an overnight operation.

Police and HM Coastguard were called to reports of a man who had gone missing after going for a swim off Skegness beach at 15:30 GMT on Sunday.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said the "response was stood down, pending any new information" at 03:30 on Monday.

Lincolnshire Police said the man's family had been informed about the search's progress.

An HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter was joined by crews from Skegness, Mablethorpe, Wrangle and Sutton Bridge Coastguard Rescue Teams.

Lifeboats from Skegness and Mablethorpe RNLI also took part in the search.
