Man seriously injured in city centre robbery

Officers will remain at the scene in Colchester throughout Thursday, Essex Police said

Two people have been arrested after a man was seriously injured during a robbery.
Essex Police said the incident took place in Middleborough, Colchester at 21:35 GMT on Wednesday.
Officers found a wounded man, whose coat had reportedly been stolen, and took him to hospital.
A 45-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of robbery and taken into custody for questioning, police said.

Police encouraged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact officers
Det Insp Tim Coyles said a police presence would remain in North Station Road while inquiries continued.
Witnesses or those with CCTV footage were asked to contact the police.
