A robber who attacked a woman in her 80s in her own home has been jailed.

Marian Plesca forced the back door of the elderly woman's property in the All Saints area of Wolverhampton at around 10:00 GMT on 30 November.

The 32-year-old, of no fixed address, grabbed his victim's arms and pulled off a gold necklace she was wearing and a watch, before snatching £20 from a kitchen counter.

The victim was not badly injured and managed to raise the alarm and report the crime.

Three days later while out on patrol, officers spotted Plesca and arrested him.

He was charged with robbery and when it came the first day of his trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Tuesday 30 July, Plesca changed his plea and admitted the offence.

Plesca was jailed for eight years for robbery and a further two years for breaching a community order.
