Seaside event returns after five-year absence

A beach-themed family event is returning to a Leicestershire town for the first time since the Covid pandemic.
Loughborough by the Sea will feature funfair rides, a sand pit, characters and games in the town's Market Place from Sunday to Tuesday.
The free event was last held in 2019 but was cancelled the following year due to lockdown and has not been held since.
Organiser Blueline Leisure said it had been popular in the past and it expected hundreds of people to attend the comeback.
Charnwood Borough Council which initially ran the event, is supporting this year's incarnation alongside Love Loughborough BID, which took over from 2017 to 2019.
The authority said the mock seaside would also host more than 25 market stalls, entertainment and a bouncy castle.
