A teenager has been charged in connection with a stabbing in Gloucester last month.

The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

The charges relate to an incident in Cecil Road on 23 September when a male stabbed another male in the leg and a second man was wounded by a knife.

The boy appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on Wednesday and has been remanded until a second hearing on 25 October.

Both victims required hospital treatment and were later discharged.

Insp Ash Gardner from the Gloucester Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Tackling knife crime is a priority for us and offences will be dealt with robustly.

"These charges relating to a teenager show how seriously we are treating this issue.

"I would urge anybody with information in relation to knife crime to come forward and let us know, no matter how small or insignificant they believe it to be.

"This is not something we can tackle alone, it is a partnership effort, and the more we are told the more we will be able to do to tackle this problem."
