M11 southbound shut for post-crash resurfacing work

There are long delays on the M11 during rush hour traffic as National Highways worked to resurface the road following a collision

A motorway has been closed due to emergency resurfacing works.
The M11 southbound carriageway was previously closed between junction 5 for Loughton in Essex and junction 4 for Woodford in London after a crash at about 02:30 BST.
The road did reopen, but resurfacing works caused delays of 90 minutes during rush hour traffic as drivers made use of the hard shoulder.
National Highways said that at about 10:45 it had shut the motorway again, external, including up to junction 6 for the M25, to "ensure the works can be completed safely" and a diversion has been put in place.

There were delays on the nearby M25 due to a collision near Waltham Abbey and Waltham Cross
National Highways said the closure was expected to remain in place throughout the morning, "but every effort is being made to have the road safely reopened ahead of the evening peak".
Motorists were urged to follow the solid circle symbol for the diversion route.
On the nearby M25 clockwise carriageway near Waltham Abbey in Essex, one lane was also closed due to a collision, causing further delays in the area, before later reopening.
