Two drivers have been rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped in floods in Staffordshire.

The pair got stuck in about three feet (0.9m) of water on Blackbank Road in Newcastle-under-Lyme just before 09:45 GMT, the fire service said.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said police closed the road as crews from Burslem and Hanley recovered the drivers.

Firefighters were also called on to rescue sheep in Rugeley on Wednesday morning.
