Police are searching for people who are believed to have entered a primary school in Guernsey and vandalised its swimming pool.

Substantial damage was caused to the roof of the pool at La Houguette Primary School during Storm Ciaràn, officers said.

Guernsey Police said it believed one or more people entered the school through the storm-damaged roof between 16:00 GMT on 2 November and 08:00 on 3 November, and proceeded to throw objects into the pool.

Items thrown into the pool included carpets, benches, tables and equipment used to teach swimming classes.

The force has appealed for any witnesses.
