A football fan who is set to walk more than 190 miles for charity has been recognised on national TV for his fundraising efforts.

Manny Singh Kang and his son Jeevan will both do the walk, starting from Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton on Tuesday.

To raise money for Dementia UK, they are aiming to reach Newcastle's St James' Park in time for a match on Saturday.

To put them both in a good mood ahead of the challenge, Mr Singh Kang was given the surprise of his life on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

Mr Singh Kang had been one of hundreds invited to the filming of the ITV show on Saturday.

None of them knew the audience was made up entirely of community leaders, foster parents and charity fundraisers.

Everyone present was told they had been awarded an all expenses paid holiday to a destination of their choice.

"I didn't really know what was going on," Mr Singh Kang told BBC Radio WM.

"It was brilliant to be honest. A great experience."

Mr Singh Kang, who previously walked from Wolverhampton to Chelsea, has completed multiple London marathons and has raised more than £260,000 for the charity since 2018.

He believes raising money for Dementia UK is important because the condition "affects everybody, yet no-one talks about it".

The charity provides specialist advice and support to help families affected by dementia and care for their loved ones.

Mr Singh Kang added he had not yet decided where he would book to go away as he had been focusing on his latest challenge.
