A Cornish pub is reopening after suffering "extensive damage" in a fire.

The Harbour Beer House in Charlestown, formerly known as the Harbour Inn, was closed in 2023 after a fire broke out at the neighbouring Pier House pub.

Both venues, owned by St Austell Brewery, had been refurbished and were reopening for the summer, the brewery said.

Helen Sprason, area manager for St Austell Brewery, said their transformation had been "amazing".

'Exposed the history'

She said: “It’s been amazing to watch the Pier House transform over the months to restore the pub to its former glory and then some.

“We’ve sensitively exposed the history of the building, showcasing the grandeur of the structure and how it’s been used over the years."

The Harbour Beer House, a joint venture between Padstow-based Harbour Brewing Co and St Austell Brewery, will also have a restaurant area.

St Austell Brewery is marking the opening with a group beach clean in Charlestown on Saturday morning.

The neighbouring Pier House pub is due to reopen on 28 June.
