Asbestos removal scheme announced for six schools

Work to remove asbestos roofing at six schools in Herefordshire is to be carried out over the summer, the county council says.

The £800,000 scheme will involve replacing lights, ceilings, and canopies as well "failing" roof systems.

The projects at the different schools will cost between £60,000 and £250,000, the council said.

The authority is currently seeking contractors to carry out the work.

The affected schools are:

  • Garway Primary School in southwest Herefordshire

  • Ashfield Park Primary School, Ross-on-Wye

  • Weobley High School, west of Hereford

  • Bosbury CE Primary School, near Ledbury

  • Ewyas Harold Primary School, in Hereford

  • Almeley Primary School, near Kington
