Road closures are in place as crews tackle a fire at an abandoned property.

Avon Fire and Rescue said they were called to reports of the blaze off Cavell Road in Cribbs Causeway, near Bristol on Monday evening.

The A4018 Cribbs Causeway in both directions is closed from The Rugby Club to Premier Inn, but traffic is coping well.

No one has been injured.

Crews have been tackling the house fire for hours

Crews from 10 areas are helping to put out the fire.

A spokesperson said: "A number of firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus and crews are using hose reel jets to tackle the fire."

They added: Please avoid the area where possible."

Ricky Nelmes, who lives near the property, said: "Most of the new houses are set back but this one house is right on the dual carriageway."

He added: "All fire crews are still here after five hours of putting the [fire] out."
