National Highway said the fire caused delays of about an hour

A stretch of the M6 motorway was closed northbound near Stafford due to a vehicle fire.

It happened at about 09:15 BST, between junctions 13 and 14.

National Highways said at one point the closure was causing delays of about an hour.

The car has since been cleared. Traffic returned to normal levels by 11:50 BST, National Highways reported.
