Missing items in dog walker murder case found

A missing jacket and phone case belonging to a dog walker who was allegedly murdered in Suffolk have been discovered, a court has heard.

Anita Rose, 57, was found unconscious in Brantham, near Ipswich, at about 06:35 BST on 24 July. She died at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge four days later.

Roy Barclay, 55, of no fixed address, was charged with murder and pleaded not guilty last month.

Mr Barclay appeared at Ipswich Crown Court via video link for a case management hearing, where the court was told Ms Rose's missing jacket and phone case had been found in a camp in Brantham.

Police said Ms Rose left her house last July at 05:00 to take her springer spaniel, Bruce, on their usual walk in the area.

Officers believed she was wearing a waterproof pink zip-up Regatta Calderdale II jacket prior to her being found unconscious near the sewage works and railway line, off Rectory Lane.

Ms Rose was also captured on CCTV wearing the coat.

Ms Rose's black phone case was also recently found, Ipswich Crown Court heard

Her Apple iPhone had been found shortly after the incident, but her phone case - a black wallet-style quilted case with gold crown and stud detail - was missing.

The court heard on Friday both items were recently recovered.

Mr Barclay was previously remanded into custody and Judge Martyn Levett set a trial date for 27 May.

Another case management hearing is expected on 21 March.
