Boy in court charged with stabbing murder of teen

A 15-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with the murder of a teenager who was stabbed in south London.
Two boys, aged 17, were taken to hospital after police were called to the Old Kent Road in Southwark at about 22:45 BST on 27 August.
One of the boys, who died on Wednesday, has been named by the Met Police as Yeray Sanchez-Morales. The second teenager was treated for injuries that were not life-changing has since been discharged.
The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Monday and charged with murder, causing grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon on Thursday.
Appearing at Bromley Magistrates' Court, he spoke only to confirm his personal details during a five-minute hearing.
District Judge Sarah Turnock remanded him into youth detention accommodation to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday.
Southwark borough councillor Natasha Ennin said Yeray's death was "a tragedy that will be felt right across our community".
"Our thoughts are with all of Yeray's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."
Det Ch Insp Kate Blackburn said that stabbing took place "in the middle of the road outside the McDonald's on Old Kent Road and there were many witnesses".
She appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to speak to the force on 101 or make an anonymous report to Crimestoppers.
