Plans to build more than 200 homes in Hull have been approved.

Hull City Council's planning committee approved plans for a development of 64 two-bed houses, 122 three-bed houses and 28 four-bed houses in the Kingswood area of the city.

The development will be built on a stretch of land between Richmond Way and the River Hull, and will be accessible by two new junctions.

Chris Murphy, land director of developer Beal Homes, said: "We have worked very closely with the local authority and statutory bodies to develop and refine these plans, which will bring much-needed new homes to the area and offer wider benefits to the local community."

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the housebuilder has also been granted outline permission for a further 236 homes, potentially taking the total new homes built to 450 in a project that would be worth £120m.

The council will discuss the extra 236 homes before making a final decision.
