'Help us find last runaway raccoon' says zoo
- Published
A zoo is calling on people to help it track down and recapture the last of four escaped raccoons on the Isle of Wight.
The raccoon went on the run with her three sisters, who have since been found, from Amazon World Zoo Park, Arreton on Friday.
The park has put out a plea on social media to borrow large fox traps to place in the grounds to try and catch the last raccoon.
Staff have been using drones and tracker dogs in their search for the animals.
Local residents are also being asked to check their sheds and gardens for the remaining raccoon.
Posting on social media the zoo said: "Thanks for the support and kind messages from all across the world. They mean so much."
Raccoon number three was found in the early hours of Monday morning, while two others were captured on Friday and Saturday.
A fifth raccoon remained in the enclosure.
The zoo said the three that had been found have been checked over and returned to their enclosure, where they were currently not being shown to the public.
The raccoons arrived at Amazon World about three weeks ago.
The zoo has asked people not to approach the animals, if spotted, but to contact them directly.
