A man has died in a late night crash in Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway.

Police were called to the B7076 near its junction with the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie Road at 23:55 on Tuesday.

The crash involved a BMW 1 series and an articulated lorry. A 23-year-old man, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 65-year-old man, the driver of the lorry, did not require hospital treatment.

Sgt Colin Ramage said: “We are providing support to the family of the man who died as our inquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of this crash.

“We would appeal to anyone who was driving on the B7076 around the time of crash, who either witnessed it take place or who has any information that may assist.

“We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a red car travelling southbound on the B7076 prior to the crash who may be able to assist with our investigation."
