Woman dies after car crashes into fence

A woman has died after the car she was driving left the road and crashed into a fence.

The crash happened on the B5009, previously part of the A5, in Queen's Head near Oswestry, Shropshire, at about 14:40 GMT on Sunday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police confirmed the woman, in her 70s, was the only patient and died at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead at the scene."

West Mercia Police added that she was the only occupant of the car.
