Arrest after pedestrian seriously injured in crash

A driver has been arrested after a pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash in Halifax.
Emergency services were called to Gibbet Street at the junction with Churn Lane at 22:22 BST on Friday following reports of a collision between a grey BMW 316 and a man in his 50s.
West Yorkshire Police said the pedestrian was taken to hospital where he is being treated for "serious, potentially life-threatening injuries".
The 68-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while over the prescribed drug limit.
Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
