Two people have been arrested after the unexplained death of a six-month-old baby.

The boy was found at a home on Barleyfield Row in Walsall on Monday after police were called to the address.

A 42-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child, police said.

They have since been bailed with strict conditions.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said crews were called by police at about 11:40 GMT on Monday.

"Two ambulances and two paramedic officers were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a child," they said.

"Sadly, it quickly became clear he could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene."

Police said a post-mortem examination would take place in due course to determine the exact cause of death and added that inquiries were ongoing.
