A helicopter was involved in a "near miss" with a drone during a flight over Londonderry, the police have said.
The incident involving a private helicopter happened near the Foyle Bridge in Derry on Sunday.
The police said the drone was operating at an altitude of approximately 1,000 ft (305m), and that this was "both illegal and extremely dangerous".
Flying a drone above 400ft (120m) is banned under UK law.
The police have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
The Civil Aviation Authority, which regulates UK airspace, warned that anyone breaking the rules on the use of drones could be jailed or fined.
“Anyone operating a drone must do so responsibly and follow our Dronecode, which is designed to keep all airspace users safe," a spokesperson said.
"This includes registering and having the relevant flyer ID and obeying safety rules.
"Anyone breaking the rules can face severe penalties including fines and even imprisonment.”
