A two-year-old boy who was given first aid after choking on a chip has been reunited with the man who saved him.

Huxley was out for tea with his mother Sarah Watters in Burnley on Tuesday when he began to choke.

He was saved by fellow diner Tom Lee-Newton who sprung into action when he heard screaming.

Ms Watters said her son would not be "here today" had it not been for the actions of Mr Lee-Newton.

She said her son turned a "different colour" as he choked and his "hero" responded incredibly quickly.

"We're so lucky that Tom was there," Ms Watters said.

Mr Lee-Newton, a father of four, said he had "never done anything like that before", but that his instincts had taken over when he saw Huxley struggling.

He said: "It was two rounds of back thrusts before [Huxley] let out this little cry and to everyone's relief we knew he'd got whatever he had stuck, up.

"I did what I had to do at that time, it was after it all ended emotions hit and the adrenalin hit.

"I had to go and take myself outside for a bit to take a breather and calm down."

The pair were reunited after Ms Watters put a post on social media, to try and trace "Huxley's hero".

Mr Lee-Newton saw the post and was invited to meet the family.

Speaking to her son's hero, Ms Watters said: "He wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for you.

"So I appreciate everything you did, you saved him."

Mr Lee-Newton said Huxley had been "so brave" and had had a "little cry" after his ordeal but was soon back playing.
