Second man arrested after woman stabbed to death

A second man has been arrested after a mother-of-three was stabbed to death.

Courtney Mitchell, 26, from Ipswich, died on 6 August following an incident on Burrell Road in the town.

Logan Burnett, 27, of All Saints Road, Ipswich, was subsequently charged with murder in connection with the incident and appeared in court on Friday.

Suffolk Police arrested a second man, aged 35 from Ipswich, on suspicion of assisting an offender.

He was subsequently bailed with conditions to return to police on 12 October.

A mandatory referral was also made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) by Essex Police regarding previous contact from the force with Ms Mitchell.

Mr Burnett is due to appear before Ipswich Crown Court on 25 November and was remanded into custody.

In a statement on Friday, Ms Mitchell's family paid tribute to her.

"Her contagious smile lit up any room and her laughter was the sweetest sound in our home," they said.

"Her kindness had no limits, she was always there for everybody - family, friend, or stranger.

"She was helpful in every way possible; her empathy knew no bounds. She was fun, fierce and extremely loyal."

Police continue to appeal for information.
