Two teachers charged with child sex offences

Two former private school teachers have been charged with dozens of historical child sex offences.
David Clarke, 81 and George Haynes, 73, have been charged with a total of 71 child sex offences between them relating to their time teaching at Newlands School in Seaford.
Sussex Police said Clarke, a former religious education teacher, and Haynes, who taught English and drama, both remain in custody.
They are due to separately appear at Lewes Crown Court on 24 February.
Sussex Police said the two separate investigations relate to the pair's time at the school in the 1970s, 80s and 90s.
Clarke, of Main Road in Brancaster Staithe, Norfolk, taught at the preparatory school between 1978 and 1989.
He is charged with 42 offences relating to 12 victims, including indecent assault, buggery and making an indecent image of a child.
Haynes, of Church Lane in Redmile, Leicestershire, faces 29 child sex offences linked to his time at Newlands Manor School between 1986 and 1992.
The charges, including indecent assault, attempted indecent assault and buggery, relate to 11 victims.
Newlands Manor School opened in 1978 and closed in 2006.
Its partner school, Newlands School, opened in 1932 and closed in 2014.
