A dog was rescued after it became stuck on a ledge above Mannez Quarry.

Alderney Fire Brigade said it was called on Sunday morning at about 09:45 BST and on arrival the cocker spaniel, called Molly, was about "six to seven meters from the bottom of the cliff face".

The service said Molly was secured into a special dog harness, which was normally used for a rope rescue.

It said after she was "carefully brought down the ladder", she was checked over by a Alderney Animal Welfare Society veterinary nurse.

Alderney Fire Brigade said crews had a cuddle with Molly the cocker spaniel following the rescue

"She was given the all-clear and, of course, had to have a cuddle from all involved," the fire service said.

"Crews deployed a triple extension ladder and 105 ladder so that two firefighters could reach Molly at the same time."
