Firefighters have spent more than four hours tackling a fire at a pub.

The blaze broke out in the ground floor kitchen of The Barley in Newport, Shropshire, on Tuesday evening.

Firefighters from Albrighton, Newport, Telford, Tweedale and Wellington were sent to the town centre venue, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

The fire was reported at about 20:30 BST, with crews stood down at about 00:45 on Wednesday. The fire was accidental and believed to be caused by electrics, stated the fire service.

Six breathing apparatus, two main jets, three hose reel jets and two positive pressure ventilation fans were in use at the scene, the fire service said.
