A band will charge just £1 a ticket when they headline a legendary London venue days after the release of their debut album.

Only the Poets, from Reading, Berkshire, and Banbury, Oxfordshire, charged £1 for their first gig seven years ago and will do so again when they perform at the O2 Academy Brixton, in February 2026.

"We wouldn't have been able to see half the gigs we went to if ticket prices were what they are now, so we wanted to make sure that this show was open to everyone," frontman Tommy Longhurst said.

The band has previously toured Europe and the United States and has supported Lewis Capaldi, Yungblud and Bastille. They are due to support The Wombats in the US in the autumn.

As a celebration of accessible live music for all, people going to the Brixton gig will also be asked to pay a £1 donation to the LIVE Trust, external, which supports the live music and entertainment sector.

In addition, the ticket price includes a £1 venue restoration fee and a £1 Ticketmaster fee but both of those have been reduced in recognition of what the band is doing.

"This is a wonderful, positive move by Only the Poets, giving back to the grassroots while giving back to their fans," LIVE Trust's chief executive Jon Collins said.

"Making this show accessible to all means everyone can enjoy the associated mental health, communal and emotional benefits."

The band's debut album And I'd Do It Again will be released on 30 January 2026, with their Brixton performance following on 2 February.

Tickets for the show go on pre-sale on 11 September from 10:00 BST and general sale starts on 12 September from 10:00.

"Our fans know our shows are a safe space," guitarist Clem Cherry said. "This is about making sure anybody can come and have an amazing night in an iconic venue. It's also a thank you to everyone who's supported us to this point."
