Road closures as gas pipe upgrade gets under way

The works start with the closure of Horton Road, from the St Ives Park junction to Woolsbridge Road

Drivers are being warned to plan ahead as a major route through a village is set for a series of closures to allow a gas main to be replaced.
The first phase underneath Horton Road in Ashley Heath, Dorset, will see the road closed both ways for four weeks from the junction of St Ives Park up to Woolsbridge Road.
SGN said the work was being carried out in phases over about 10 weeks until 15 December due to the location of the connection points and gas pipes.
From 3 November, lasting two weeks, the Woolsbridge Road and Lions Lane junction will close. The final phase will shut the road overnight with temporary lights during the day between between Magnolia House and Webbs Close from 10 November.
Diversions will be signposted via Three Legged Cross, West Moors and St Leonards.
SGN said: "These works are essential, external to ensure we maintain a safe and efficient gas supply to the local community, helping to avoid further disruptive emergency gas escapes in the future.
"We're sorry for the inconvenience this work may cause and thank local people for their patience and understanding."
