Man appears in court charged with kidnap of child

A man has been charged over an alleged abduction of a child in Birmingham.

Mohammed Abdulraziq, 32, and from the city, was arrested after the child was found at an address on Sunday following an incident in the Winson Green area, police said.

Earlier on Monday he appeared before Birmingham magistrates charged with kidnap, sexual assault on a child under the age of 13, assault by beating and possession of cannabis.

Mr Abdulraziq was remanded in custody to appear before Birmingham Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 15 April.

Mr Abdulraziq also faced charges at the magistrates' court with an unconnected assault, attempted assault and criminal damage which were alleged to have happened last month.
